Summary: setting position of cursor in the timeline should revert
to the older behaviour
Product: Cinelerra
Version: 2.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Medium
Component: User Interface
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
the "old" (version of one year ago) behaviour of the cursor was that
left-clicking anywhere on an audio-waveform would position the cursor exactly
where the click happened. very useful for starting playback at a very specific
point (and finding said specific point in the first place).
After updating I found that this was no longer so and had to experiment a lot
in order to find out how to place the cursor. 'lo and behold, it turned out
that now, it is only possible to set the cursor by clicking in the very narrow
band at the top of the screen, where the time-indicators are. this is not
optimal. If it is useful for other users and what they do, I don't object to it
being possible, but right now clicking on a waveform doesn't do anything, so it
shouldn't break any expected behaviour to revert to the old behaviour and make
it possible again to set the cursor that way. Please. Thank you.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. load some audio file
2. try to go to a specific point in time by clicking on the waveform in a
position that looks "good" (i.e. likely to be the one I'm searching for
3. be annoyed, swear move the mouse up, try to align the mouse-position
vertically with the position below, click, it's not exactly where i want it,
swear again, and so on ad nauseam.
Actual Results:
see 3 above
Expected Results:
when I click on a position in a waveform, I expect the cursor to be where I
clicked.
this was the behaviour in bcast2000 as well as older versions of cinelerra.
note that I use cinelerra (as I used bcast2000) exclusively for audio-editing
because audacity sucks dirty donkey balls for what I want to do (i.e. edit huge
(9 hours) audio files and cut very specific small parts out and render them to
smaller files).
