Teletype machines used 5-bit Baudot code, including shifts between "Figs" and "Letters." The ILLIAC I console was a TTY. ILLIAC used hexadecimal input. But instead of 0-9 and A-F, it used letters that were 10-15 in binary in Baudot "Figs" mode: KSNJFL. There were two mnemonics to remember that: "King Size Numbers Just For Laughs" and "Kind Souls Never Jostle Fat Ladies."
