Open source is only safer in that the source code is available to be analyzed 
and compiled into something usable. Even if you compile the source, there still 
might be “unsafe” things in it, hence it should be analyzed first.

If safety is of paramount importance, a supplied object or executable should 
never be used.  That’s just common sense.
