It's impossible to create an alignment disk on a standard floppy drive. It has eccntrically-recorded tracks for one thing If you manage to get an original, treat it with great care. Use it as little as possible (remember disks do wear out and you're continually reading the same area of the disk when doing an alignment). NEVER put it in a drive that may not be working properly. Remember that if the alignment is not way off, a misaligned drive can format, write to, and read from a normal blank disk. That disk may not be readable in other drives but it will be readable in the misaligned one. So until a drive passes that test (meaning things like the write driver is not stuck on, which will erase any disk you insert) don't put the alignment disk in. -tony
