Any proprietary interface or message database is anathema to honest communication. And even if they currently have benevolent commercial policies there's always the possibility of another twitter-style regression.
Moguls love communication platforms and always have, from Randall Hearst onwards, because they provide the means to control the conversation and resulting attitudes.
