No, they used equal length coax cables distributing a pulse from a super-low inductance capacitor and a spark gap in the first nuclear weapons, then moved to "Krytrons" which were gas discharge tubes. No semiconductors at all in the early ones.

But, yes, it could be some sort of clock distribution system to make multiple, precisely coincident pulses.
