I see this problem on one of my machines also. I don't at the moment know why tiff files are a problem, but at least for me it works fine to make a png file instead and then convert it to tiff later if necessary: stereo3d < xxx.r3d > xxx.png convert xxx.png xxx.tiff Meanwhile, thank you for bringing the tiff failure to my attention.
