Cheers, Many thanks to all of you who sent in the (mostly positive) helpful replies. A lot of folks asked why do we have to place the structure on hold - since this is a pretty typical example of how industrial crystallographers have to operate sometimes, I will attempt to explain.
We have a choice at the moment - not to publish at all, versus (maybe) to publish but keep the structure on hold for a year. Since a whole lot of us are obliged to look for jobs (yours truly included), publications are important. Hopefully this explains things a bit better. Best regards, Artem
