Hi,
Quote from Cisco DocCD:
"Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP), described in RFC 1661, encapsulates network
layer protocol information over point-to-point links. You can configure PPP on
the following types of physical interfaces:
•Asynchronous serial
•High-Speed Serial Interface (HSSI)
•ISDN
•Synchronous serial "
Into the same document, under Enabling PPP Encapsulation here is what they are
showing:
"Enabling PPP Encapsulation
The encapsulation ppp command enables PPP on serial lines to encapsulate IP and
other network protocol datagrams.
SUMMARY STEPS
1. enable
2. configure terminal
3. configure fastethernet number
4. encapsulation ppp
5. end "
I don't about you, could we enable PPP on ethernet interfaces? If yes they
should update their DocCD, if no they should update the same document. I
thought DocCD was Cisco's bible.
Actually I've tried to enable ppp on fastethernet interface (cisco 2801) and it
failed.
