Yes, I use 32 bit Ubuntu on my box with 13 devices and it's all good.

If you use Tyson's .net file with the recommended IOS all the idle-pc
values are already done.

My specs are:

~2.6GHz dual core
4 GB RAM
Ubuntu (cant remember what version)

And my performance is fine.
