MANHEIM WHITE CAKE
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
3 cups flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
1 cup chopped pecans
egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat Oven to 350°F.
Cream butter, and sugar.
Mix and sift dry ingredients
and add alternately with milk
to the first mixture.
Add pecans, vanilla and fold
in stiffly beaten egg whites.
Bake as a loaf or in layers.
Cake is done when toothpick
inserted in center comes out
nearly clean, about 50 minutes.
Frost with your favorite frosting
(maple frosting works well) or
spread melted butter on top and
dust with confectioners or granulated
sugar.
Lavanda's note: I dont like maple flavored
things- to me it tastes imitation ...
so I like to frost with chocolate frosting
or cinnamon frosting.
