There should never be three quavers beamed together in 3/4 time.

There's nothing wrong with three quavers following a dotted crotchet, though I agree that the reverse is incorrect.

If you remember, we deliberately retained the current behaviour for 3/4 after I argued that it's common in traditionally engraved scores (certainly for Classical urtexts from Baerenreiter, for example).

As there seems to be a need for both patterns
of beaming we should have an easy way for users
to set the beaming to one or the other.  I'm not
sure this is possible at present.

Then we have to decide on the default.  My
preference would be to go with the engraving
books rather than one particular publisher.
