I'm not sure what the question is...
A column is a Grob of type Paper_column. There are 2 paper columns for each
moment of
time (a non-musical and a musical column). Each Paper_column in the score
has a rank
which is strictly increasing from the beginning to the end of the score.
You can
identify a line in the score by specifying the ranks of its first and last
columns.
