Maybe you're doing something wrong then, because GNU Emacs has been running on GNU Hurd ever since I can remember. Of course, oweing to the nature of Debian unstable, the emacs22 Debian package might be uninstallable at times due to missing or outdated dependencies. Right now, it seems to be installable without problems, though. Michael
