Images and pic diagrams are always inside diversions so confirming it is
redundant.  I confess complete ignorance about the usage of .output to replace
\!.  Various attempts all fail (the List of Figures remains steadfastly
blank).  The \!s currently in place create no formatting problems and emit no
warnings/errors, so I'm disinclined to change things.

Open, of course, to correction and instruction.
