900+ per year in a population of 300 million / n [whatever the n,
it can't be 100 or more]?

It doesn't sound like a big proportion to me.

Say, for n = 10, and for 10 years of "exposure" to this risk,
it would mean that about 0.03% of the people will die from
an accidental firing.

Is this number correct? Or is it 900+ deaths per _day_?
