I'll give two clues, 1) Try to think about the statements about the punishments of God as "evil actions have their natural consequences. 2) Try to think of the anscient Hebrews as growing in understanding, with scripture as inspired, not dictated. If you would accept Christian faith for what it is, accepting reasonable mainstream interpreations of what the human authors intended when they wrote the scriptures, it would be near impossible to arrive at your conclusions. This scholarship, as I've said before, is not a matter of faith...with general agreements found between people of many beliefs (and lack of belief).
