At current levels/rates of increase, I've heard it bandied about lately that the US defense budget will in a couple of years exceed the rest of the world's combined. Any allies we secure are there mostly for public relations. Conversely, if one purpose of this war is to give the US a bigger footprint in the region, the less allies the better. Oh...
