BG: In the Pines

I just watched a video on YouTube of Ralph and  Carter singing "In the 
Pines."  This song is very similar to "Where  Did You Sleep Last Night" by 
Leadbelly 
(and recorded by Nirvana and  others).  Does anyone know who is credited with 
writing "In the  Pines"?
