Thanks to Chris, Dave, Keith and Tom B for todays count. Weather: Great winds from NE but very low overcast and high humidity kept the flight from going today. Temp started at 17C and got to a high of 21C. Drizzle for first hour and a half before the ceiling lifted to about 700m and the skies brightened up. Raptor Observations: Not many birds today but a smattering of species including a nice adult male N. Harrier and a Merlin that came screaming across the field right towards us on the viewing knoll. A few Osprey and Kestrels on the move today as well and a young Broad-winged Hawk. Non-raptor Observations: Lots of passerines again today with some pretty good variety. Please see the associated eBird checklists we submitted for details. https://ebird.org/canada/checklist/S118191715 https://ebird.org/checklist/S118188655 For those interested in Monarch Butterfly numbers... we had 30+ today but most were moving when the sun came out finally. Predictions: Tuesday they're predicting decent NE winds again at least into the afternoon at which point the winds are forecast to go straight E which is OK as well. It'll be a better day for a mix of sun and cloud so hopefully that'll get a few more birds moving. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Dave Brown ([email protected]) Hawk Cliff Hawkwatch information may be found at: http://www.ezlink.ca/~thebrowns/HawkCliff/index.htm More site information at hawkcount.org: https://hawkcount.org/siteinfo.php?rsite=392 -- Ontbirds and Birdnews are moderated email Listservs provided by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) as a service to all birders in Ontario.
