The birds took notice and gave the day a pass. Starting with blue skies and ending with billowing clouds and the sound of thunder, the unusually hot and humid day was unproductive in terms of bird movement. Raptor Observations: Very few birds took the opportunity to move with only a handful of birds during the mid-part of the day. Sharpies and TVs, the usual suspects. Non-raptor Observations: Billowing clouds of biting flies were present today to make the day even more miserable. The highlight of the day was when I realized I had netting in the trunk of the car to give some protection to my bleeding legs. It was that kind of day! Predictions: Higher SW winds with somewhat lower temps. A chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Falling barometric pressures. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Detroit River Hawk Watch ([email protected]) Detroit River Hawk Watch information may be found at: http://www.drhawkwatch.org _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists (OFO) - the provincial birding organization.
