Hi there: Today (6 October) from 1510 - 1805 h, I surveyed the Almonte Sewage Lagoons and observed:
A single adult Greater White-fronted Goose and 18 Richardson's Cackling Geese among 3200 Canada Geese (nearly 100% of those CANG were northern geese; "Interior" Canada Geese). A small flock of Northern Pintails and both Green-winged (14) and Blue-winged (3) were also present. For those interested in viewing, photos will be posted on my blog site ( jonruddy.blogspot.com) shortly. Directions: From Highway 417 (The Queensway) take exit 155 (March Road or Regional Road 49). Turn left or southwest onto March Road and follow it for 16.0 km through Almonte to the gates on the right or northwest for the Almonte Sewage Lagoons. Continue to Ramsay Concession 8 and head right (north) for about 300 m. Look for a small sign marked "Trail." From there, the trail provides access to a nice viewing platform. Good birding, Jon Ruddy Ottawa, Ontario _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
