Hi everyone... An update on what we saw today....
We caught the 730 ferry to Amherst Island. Mostly Goldeneye and a few
Mergansers on the way in. On N Shore Rd there was a nice Snowy Owl on the roof
of a house. In the woods we saw 7 nice Saw-Whets, 1 Barred Owl, 2 Long-Eared,
and unfortunately 1 dead Short-Eared. Was also startled by a Ring Necked
Pheasant. Searched the many redpolls at the feeder for a Hoary but no luck.
And we missed out on the close up Snow Buntings, but got some nice cooperative
Horned Larks on Stella Road.
Drove up to Ottawa for a few hours (this is a city where we have always wanted
to spend more time, great place!). Two Great Greys on Greenland were seen, and
the Hawk Owl was sighted in the distance, in the Grandview neighborhood north
of Carling.
On Greenland, east of Thomas Dolan, west of Barrys Sideroad (?), we had a flock
of 13 Bohemian Waxwings on the north side of the road in a tree above some
berry bushes. Life bird and nemesis bird finally seen! Hilda Rd feeders
quiet, only Chickadees and a white hare but by now it was almost dark.
Thanks to everyone for their help!
