Good Afternoon Ontbirds, This morning despite the snow was a great day to see some of the smaller song birds. Starting along Greenland Rd in Dunrobin there was a single Great Grey. He was taking his time searching the nearby meadows listening for lunch. Keep your eyes open on the south side of Greenland between Vance's Side Rd. and Thomas Dolan.
Follow Highway 417 North to Arnprior to exit 155. Turn right on to March Rd. Follow to Constance Bay Road, and Follow past Dunrobin until you hit Thomas Dolan Parkway. Turn right and follow until Greenland Rd. and turn Left - Google Maps for Coordinates of the Great Grey.<http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=Armitage+Ave,+Ottawa,+Ottawa+Division,+Ontario,+Canada&sll=45.406193,-75.68234&sspn=0.011073,0.027895&ie=UTF8&cd=1&geocode=FRgTtgIdz7d3-w&split=0&t=h&ll=45.450889,-76.010284&spn=0.011064,0.027895&z=16&iwloc=addr> We then headed to the Hilda Rd. feeders. Here we saw a few Horay Redpolls mixed in with the Commons. We also spotted very briefly a Male Northern Cardinal in the conifer tree cluster in the center of the open space. He quickly left. There were also a good number of Black-Capped Chickadee's and a few White-Breasted Nuthatches with a Pine Siskens mixed in. We also spoted 6 to 8 Blue Jay's around the area, and one female Downy Woodpecker. Hilda Rd. Feeders - Follow Carling Ave between Moodie and March Road. Turn down Rifle Rd follow for approx 1KM, turn down Lois Ave, then on to Hilda Rd. Feeders are 100 meters ahead. - Google Maps<http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=117983301666146165145.000461ef541eea03bc464&ll=45.363122,-75.879843&spn=0.005541,0.013947&t=h&z=17> Enjoy, Sean Leslie Ottawa, Ontario www.flickr.com/eigtball _______________________________________________ ONTBIRDS is presented by the Ontario Field Ornithologists - the provincial birding organization.
