Update Saturday Riverwood Park, Mississauga The Adult Hoary Redpoll(?"frosty white")?was seen this Saturday AM by a few birders on the front (East) feeder. I saw?a Hoary Redpoll ( not quiet adult, with some narrow flank streaks, small bill, and white rump) at 3:30 pm at the front feeder.
There were some 45 Redpolls about. Brown Thrasher was seen, Saturday, ?at various times at the south feeders from MacEwan house. Last seen at 3:45 PM The TWO Coopers( adult male & female) PLUS a Sharp-shinned Hawk are about, using the feederes for their natural 'food chains' instincts. Other Birds in the Riverwood Park: Cooper's Hawk ( nice Adult male and a female ) Sharp-shinned Hawk 3 Woodpeckers sp.( Pileated pair, Hairy & Downy) ....Pileated is excavating a Hemlock tree in valley below MacEwan House and by the Chappell house Brown Thrasher (at feeders south of MacEwan Station) Nuthatches ( Both WB & RB) Brown Creeper Sparrows ( White-throated & Am. tree) M. Doves, Juncos, Cardinals, Siskins, Chickadees, Jays, Robins, etc.etc. *************************** Directions: From Hwy 403 take the Mavis Road Exit. -Go south on Mavis Road to Burnhamthorpe Road West and turn right. -Take Burnhamthorpe Road to the traffic lights at intersection with The Credit Woodlands (south of Burnhamthorpe) and Riverwood Park Lane (north of Burnhamthorpe). -Turn north onto Riverwood Park Lane. Chappell House: Follow Riverwood Park Lane until the large Arts and Crafts style house is visible. Go past it. Park in the visitor lot on your right. The feeders where the Hoary Redpolls have been observed are behind the house and at the front.
