Thanks to Willie D'Anna and Mike Galas for getting the word out on this bird. Several other people were able to arrive in time to see it from both the north and south ends of Lasalle Park in Buffalo. Literally POINT BLANK looks as the bird cruised along the shoreline just off of the railing "Sabine's-style." Turns out that there are a few dark flecks of black in the mid-primaries as well as primary coverts which along with the fairly extensive dark grayish nape would probably point to a 2nd-winter over a "full" adult, similar to a bird which was in the Niagara gorge a few years ago. It was last seen heading south at the north end of the park around 3:00 p.m., although it would often go in and out of view to the south or north for periods of time as it foraged along the shoreline. Also around were several thousand Bonaparte's Gulls and an ad. and juv. COMMON TERN.
