1 Carolina Wren sang several times today near Resources Road Ravine, which can
be reached by crossing an iron bicycle path bridge from the foot of Dee Avenue,
which is off Weston Road just south of Hwy 401. Other notable birds from an
extremely productive (for a suburban park) day on which I recorded 30 species
included a Common Redpoll flying over, 15 Horned Larks flying over, 2 American
Kestrels, 3 Red-tailed Hawks, a Cooper's Hawk, 2 Hooded Mergansers on the river
and good numbers of many common passerines such as cardinals, robins and
goldfinches. All in all, it was one of the best November days (in 28 years of
birding) that I've ever had in this area of Dee Avenue, Resources Road Ravine
and Pine Point Park.
