This is a late post, but if there is anyone in Ontario who keeps
record dates, I thought this might be interesting. On a Detroit
Audubon Society field trip Saturday we had an Osprey in Sarnia near
the Ontario Tourist building [across the street from the Best
Western.] On our way back to this building from Point Edward we saw
the bird being buzzed by a crow as it circled and then dove out of
sight. Shortly thereafter we were standing in the tourist building
parking lot when the Osprey flew by with a goldfish in its talons.

Hi all. After a 5k run in downtown Guelph this morning I decided to hit the
Plover (it was on the way home?) at Hillman Marsh finally. Despite scouring
the muddy banks from 2-5pm this aft I was unable to find this petite bird
amidst the hundreds of Dunlin, 1 flyover Killdeer, 1 Snipe and 1 Semipal
Plover. When I say I checked everywhere, I do mean EVERYWHERE (and twice!).
I spoke to another couple who was there in the morning and aft with no
luck either.
I did encounter a young Great-blue Heron in the marsh that had managed to
snag the biggest 'goldfish' I'd ever seen! It had to be around 12 or more
pds!!! The bird took it's time walking towards shore with it in it's mouth
where I presume It was gonna try to feed on it more carefully.
Cheers,
Twitcher.
