Still some good gulls at Ashbridge's Bay, on the ice in the inner bay: Two
ICELAND GULLS (one 2nd winter, one adult) and four GLAUCOUS GULLS (two 2nd
winter, two adult).
Also a Com. Grackle.

Ashbridge's Bay is in Toronto. At the end of Coxwell, where it meets Lake Shore
Road, head south into the park.

Sorry about the late posting, but we just got back today.

At least as of Saturday, the male VARIED THRUSH was still being seen daily at
94 Tamarack Drive in Big Cedar Estates, south of Bass Lake west of Orillia. The
people here, Gloria and Lorne, are very kind and hospitable people, inviting my
father and myself in and allowing us to wait for the bird from the comfort of
their home. We almost missed it, as we were about to leave when a male
BROWN-HEADED COWBIRD (with whom the thrush seems to come in) showed up, and
convinced us to stay; the thrush followed within a minute.

Other birds in the area included a GREAT GRAY OWL just east of the entrance to
Big Creek Estates, and a NORTHERN SHRIKE on Oro-Medonte Line 11, west of the
Estates.

Coming up to Orillia, my father and I saw 21 WILD TURKEYS on the east side of
Hwy 11, a few kilometres north of Heidi's Restaurant, about 10 km south of
Orillia.

Directions: Take Hwy 11 north to Hwy 12 west towards Coldwater. When you come
to Fairgrounds Rd. (where the Harris' Sparrow is), turn left (called something
different, not Fairgrounds), then take the first right onto Bass Lake Sideroad.
Follow a few km until you see the sign for the Big Creek Estates on your right.
Note: Bass Lake Sideroad takes a little jog at Oro-Medonte Line 13; you have to
turn left there and then right to rejoin the Bass Lake Road.
