There is a pair of very reliable GRAY JAYS coming to a feeder at Naiscoot Lake Road, north of Pointe Au Baril. Having dropped in on Saturday afternoon to see what was around, we were told by the proprietor to come back the next morning at 9 o'clock, since that is when they come in. We came back, and sure enough, at 9 A.M., in they flew.
About 15 km to the north, at Byng Inlet, my father and I found a PINE GROSBEAK attending a feeder at the town's post office. Directions: Take Hwy 69 to about 2 km north of Pointe Au Baril. Turn left onto Hwy 529 and follow about 5 km until you see the sign for Naiscoot Lake Lodge. For Byng Inlet, continue north until you come to Hwy 645. Follow it west until it ends in town. The post office and feeder will be on your left.
