Hello Ontbirders,

Today there was an adult Greater White-fronted Goose
at Constance Bay. Constance Bay is about 30 minutes
west of Ottawa. To get there from highway 417, take
the March Road exit at Kanata, follow this to Dunrobin
Road, then follow this past Dunrobin and Woodlawn
until you see the signs to Constance Bay. Follow
Constance Bay Drive until it reaches the river just
past the gas station. The goose was there with a large
flock of Canada's.

Other birds of note locally today include Red-throated
Loon, Black and Surf Scoters at Shirleys Bay. These
birds have been reported in previous postings by
others.

Jeff Skevington

Observers: Claude Radley, Jim Crozier

Visitors:
Jim Crozier and Claude Radley were our observer visitors. Many thanks,
Claude, for your energetic help throughout the day.

Weather:
Cold, breezy, partly cloudy day with winds out of the West, Northwest.
Temperatures were between 2.8 and 9.1 degrees Celsius.

Observations:
The highlight of the day was a Golden Eagle passing over the marsh at
11:55. Five Bald Eagles and four Northern Goshawks added to the
excitement. Some of the hawks flew very high over the tower. Thanks to the
crisp day, we were able to see bird activity over the Northern part of the
marsh.

The clouds of Starlings were getting fewer. Over 5000 crows, 1500 finches
and 3500 Red-winged Blackbirds were counted until 13:00. Three groups of
Tundra Swans lit up the sky, totaling 62 for the day.

Predictions:
Clear, cold day. High only 4 degrees Celsius. Wind NW at 10 km/hr.
