Observations: Three raptors passed the hawk tower between 7:47 a.m. and noon on this first day of the 2004 hawk watch season at Holiday Beach Conservation Area. Birders from the Ojibway Nature Centre birding class with leader Paul Pratt saw of number of bird species from the tower, including (noted in the sequence observed) Black-crowned Night-Heron, Bald Eagle, Caspian Tern, Pied-billed Grebe, Belted Kingfisher, Bobolink, Spotted Sandpiper, Chimney Swift, resident Cooper's Hawk, 9 Red-breasted Nuthatch flying over the tower, and 5 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds.
