On this Tuesday morn of Aug.31 a good number of observers arrived at the
Cranberry Marsh Raptor Watch platform with hopes that the predicted
northwesterly winds would bring migrants. In fact the wind was light out of
the north for 2 hours, before swinging around to the south. BUT, the rising
BP and a reasonably high Thermal Updraft Velocity may have contributed to
high-soaring, some even kettling, Broad-wingeds.
CMRW is well underway-- 137 counted raptors since Aug.14. Today we had 7
Broad-wingeds, 7 Sharp-shinneds, 4 Red-taileds, 3 Am.Kestrels and 3 Ospreys
(Osprey total to date=30).

The Great Egret shows itself every day.

Warblers are starting to arrive. Many Hummingbirds are noted every day..

CMRW -- exit the 401 from the west at Salem--south to Bayly, east through
LakeRidge, turning south at the first block (Hall's Rd.) down to the second
parking lot , just north of the lakefront.
