A very sunny cool Wednesday, Apr.28 brought many birders, primarily to see if the LeConte's Sparrow could be found in the Thickson's Woods environs. During the morning there was one report indicating a possibility, not too far from the main entrance--but, it has to remain unconfirmed. Birds were few. "Good" ones included Red-bellied Woodpecker, Blue-headed Vireo, Palm Warbler, Pine Warbler, an early Chestnut-sided Warbler, House Wren, female E.Towhee, several Winter Wrens, among others.
Exit off the 401 at Thickson's--south towards the lake, turning left just north of the lakeside woods. DON'T FORGET--- THE THICKSON'S SRING FESTIVAL-- SATURDAY MAY 8 Doug Lockrey, Whitby, ON
