Red Tail Hawk @ my house (Brooklin), March 25, 2004 I hope I am not outside the criteria for reports on Ontbirds but I found this incident so unusual that I thought people would be interested.
While cleaning up my garden I heard a "thump" on my eves and when I looked up a Red Tail Hawk was sitting there watching me, no more than 10' away. After about 5 minutes it flew across the road onto a neighbor's roof. I retrieved a camera and as I came out of my house and onto my front deck, the hawk flew back and landed on my deck railing no more than 4' from where I stood. It stayed there for about 5 minutes, and after recovering from the shock of seeing the bird so close I took lots of pictures. If you are interested in a picture, send me a separate e-mail and I will reply. Dave Mills Brooklin, Ontario [EMAIL PROTECTED]
