                            AMHERST I. [page 36, quads E54 & 55]

On Mar 20, Chris Grooms reported 3 SAW-WHET & 3 LONG-EARED OWLS in the Owl
Woods and a SNOWY OWL.

Claude Martineau (Club des ornithologues de l'Outaouais, Gatineau, Québec)
reported on Mar. 20, no SAW-WHET OWLS seen but 3 LONG-EARED OWLS were
flushed in the Owl Woods, and 1 juv. SNOWY OWL near Stella.


                                    HOWE I. [Page 36, Quad D57]

Mike Runtz reported Mar. 24, on Howe Island, 2 flocks of SNOW GEESE fly
over: 150 in
one, and 50 in the second. Also, 2 BALD EAGLES and 1 N. GOSHAWK.



                                WOLFE ISLAND [page 36, quad E57]

On Mar. 20, Clare Muller reported 3 SNOWY OWLS around the north end of the
4th Line.

Mike Runtz et al, on Mar. 21, encountered over 100 raptors on Wolfe
including 75 ROUGH-LEGGED and 25 RED-TAILED HAWKS, 5 N. HARRIERS, 3 AM.
KESTRELS & 1 SNOWY OWL (male on 4th Line, north end), and a LOGGERHEAD
SHRIKE on the muddy 3rd
Line.

On March 26, Joel Ellis, Bud Rowe and Paul Mackenzie had a N. SHOVELER, 25
ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 14 KILLDEER, 1 MEADOWLARK & 2 GREAT BLUE HERON.



                                                OTHER SIGHTINGS

Paul Mackenzie, Ellis & Rowe on Mar. 26 reported: On the Cataraqui River
(aka Rideau Canal) there were 4 GREEN-WINGED TEAL on the shore of Bell's
Island visible from Lilla Burke Park & 6 CANVASBACK among the diving ducks
behind the quarry. There are many RING-NECKED DUCKS, GREATER SCAUP, COMMON
MERGANSERS, HOODED MERGANSERS, BUFFLEHEAD, and GOLDENEYE along the river.

Directions: The Lilla Burke Park is a small park on Kenwoods Circle {page
48, quad K 19} Kenwoods Circle is accessed from Hwy 15 via Gore Rd.

At Cartwright Point [page 36, quad D56] {page 48 & 49, quads N20 & M21}

The EASTERN SCREECH OWL was in the nesting box entry most of the day, Mar.
22. The nest box is just across the road from #3 Woodpecker Lane.

At #14 The Point Rd., COMMON REDPOLLS were last seen on Mar. 26, CAROLINA
WRENS have been seen and heard on Mar. 25 & 26. On Mar. 27, 2 KILLDEER flew
over the house and a SONG SPARROW has reappeared at our feeders.
