Hello Ontbirders
Today, March 26, 2004 during the afternoon I birded east of
Ottawa checking a number of the potential flood areas looking for
waterfowl in the Carlsbad Springs/Bear Brook, Cobb Lake Creek/ Bourget
and Riceville areas. I found few geese feeding and a small number of
puddle ducks. The majority of Canada Geese (3000+) were flying in an
easterly direction. Overall there was little water and no flooding- a
few fields had small puddles. In the Ste.. Rose/Casselman area I did see
6 Snowy Owls. Three were perched on fence posts and 3 sitting in the
field. With the lack of snow, they were easily detected. Maybe with all
the rain things will improve!
good birding
