We enjoyed a variety of great birds including a COMMON RAVEN, spotted first by Ron Pittaway, which travelled north west over the marsh. Other interesting birds today included 3 GOLDEN EAGLES, 12 ROUGH-LEGGED HAWKS, 3 BALD EAGLES, a late OSPREY, a NORTHERN SHRIKE along Halls Road, 6 white and one blue SNOW GEESE, 3 FOX SPARROWS amongst the 6 sparrow species present, and 178 migrant RED-TAILED HAWKS. Our official raptor total was 229 birds. Our 'local' BALD EAGLE moved west today but the male tundra PEREGRINE continued in the area and harassed everything from Canada Geese to Red-tailed Hawks. cheers Jerry Walsh Cranberry Marsh Raptor Watch is located at the foot of Halls Road in south Whitby. Access is south from Victoria Street, east of Harwell and west of Hwy 12. We have counters on site every day during the autumn hwak migration, weather permitting.
