The winds, which were strong and brisk all day, blew mainly from the west. Observations: It seems that this weather pattern has been successful in stimulating a very good raptor flight as the last several days have illustrated. Perhaps the birds, like the human onlookers today, were feeling Falls chill in the air and the impulse to be on the move to southern locales. Certainly it seemed more like October 30th than September 30th. Today produced the first substantial one day movement of Turkey Vultures along with another good push of Broad-wings, the latter event being somewhat surprising for this date. For the second time this season, a migrating Peregrine was observed feeding on the wing. It was probably a Blue Jay as todays skies like so many lately were filled with thousands of these birds ======================================================================== Report submitted by Calvin Brennan ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) SMRR- Lake Erie Metropark information may be found at: http://www.smrr.net/ The primary site used by Southeastern Michigan Raptor Research (SMRR) is the Boat Launch at Lake Erie Metropark located approximately 20 miles south of Detroit, Michigan.
