The past few days have had "wrong conditions" for any significant numbers of hawls to "elect" to migrate along the lakefront. This Friday/Sep.12 AM 2 of us had, however, the opportunity to witness a Sharp-shinned Hawk harassing a Northern Goshawk for 15 seconds before both flew northwesterly out of view. The NG was an immature.
To date the Cranberry Marsh Raptor Watch has counted 64 Ospreys since Aug.21, including one today. Several Common Loons were en route out over the lake. In the marshlands to the south of our platform were 2 American Bitterns at 0730 EST. The CMRW is at the south end of Hall's Rd., accessed from Victoria St., 1 block east of Lakeridge Rd. in southwest Whitby.
