Hi Ontbirders, Today, Sept. 11, Mike Tate reported a Great Egret at the Bruce Pit at 9:00 AM. Also, Bob Cermak reported that the 2 juv. Red Knots discovered at the St. Albert sewage lagoon on Sept. 7 were still present in the NE cell on Sept. 10.
DIRECTIONS: Bruce Pit - a long-abandoned & degraded sand pit (a hot spot for dog-walkers & local dragonfly enthusiasts, occasionally good for birds; a Nelson's Sharp-tailed Sparrow was found here in October 2001)...Cedarview Rd. between Baseline Rd. and West Hunt Club Rd. in the west end of Ottawa in Bells Corners. St. Albert sewage lagoon (one of the best shorebird spots east of Ottawa so far this fall - also the preferred location for a family of River Otters since at least Aug. 30th)...Immediately west of the town of St. Albert along Prescott-Russell Cty Rd. 5. Take exit 79 off Hwy 417 and go south on Cty Rd. 7 towards Crysler, proceed around the curve where the road becomes Cty Rd. 5 and look for the sign to the lagoon on the south side of the road (house opposite is #1664). Good birds to you! Chris Lewis Ottawa [EMAIL PROTECTED] "Christina Lewis" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Visit http://www.ofo.ca/ontbirdsguide.htm for information on leaving and joining the list.
