This morning heavy showers greeted birders at Point Pelee, but when the
rain stopped it became very active. At the Tip a moderate "reverse"
migration kicked in, with lots of warblers, orioles, buntings, vireos,
etc., flying south off the Tip. Such warblers included Mourning,
Bay-breasted, Canada, Blackpoll, Tennessee, Wilson's, etc. The number of
birds present is certainly greater than the past several days.

Highlights reported this morning include:

LAUGHING GULL (adult) - sitting on the Tip, but sometimes flying off to
feed (Brian L. Morin et al.)
HENSLOW'S SPARROW -- west side of the Tip, just marginally north of the
Tip train loop (Karl R. Konze)
Acadian Flycatcher -- south end of Loop Woods
Summer Tanager (immature male) -- south end of Loop Woods
Cerulean Warbler (2) -- Loop Woods area at Tip

Yellow-breasted Chats have been regular over the past couple of days, as
have both cuckoo species. There is also a distinct increase in the later
flycatchers, such as Willow, Alder and Yellow-bellied.

Yesterday's update (May 19):

COMMON EIDER (female) -- late in the afternoon the bird was seen multiple
times off the west side of the Tip, in company with about (20) Lesser
Scaup.
MISSISSIPPI KITE -- one over the Park (location not known)
Worm-eating Warbler (1) on Woodland Nature Trail

Good Birding,

John Haselmayer, Karl Konze, Dave Martin, Pete Read, Alan Wormington
Staff, Friends of Point Pelee
