I posted this message earlier on Ontbirds at about 9:50 AM but it may have been in violation of the advertising policy because I put a plug in for the Huron Fringe Birding Festival, although I had checked that out and recieved an OK earlier in the month. So in the interests of getting out the message for interested birders, here it is again with no plug, 2 hours + later.
In Horseshoe Bay in Port Elgin I found this morning at 9:15 AM, a Snowy Egret. It had a black bill with Yellow Lores. I was just thrilled when it picked up its black legs to move and revealed its yellow feet. Along side with the Snowy Egret is a Trumpeter Swan with Yellow tag Number 543. The sight was shared by me with a passing cyclist and birder Leo Vankesel. Both birds were still there at 11:30 AM but has moved farther and deeper to the right as you face Lake Huron. The details of the bird are easily seen with a scope. Horseshoe Bay can be found by driving on Hwy 21 between Southampton and Port Elgin. Turn towards the Lake on Concession 10 turning right when you get to the bottom. The first Bay you come to is Mirimachi Bay and the second one is Horseshoe Bay.
