Hi Birders,
Here's what I missed yesterday. The river is quite open today and the
waterfowl are spread out. On my way back I stopped at Marshy Creek Park
north of Port Lambton. There were some excellent birds here. In the
distance I picked out a type of grebe. I waited about 20 min. since I knew
I had something good. It flew in closer. Turned out to be a RED-NECKED
GREBE. This is an extremely excellent bird for the river. In fact, I have
never seen one on the river. Others here included a female WOOD DUCK
(first bird I looked at), female LONG-TAILED and the WHITE-WINGED SCOTER.
The GADWALL were still at Cathcart Park.

Marshy Creek Park is just north of the village of Port Lambton in front of
Riverview Public School.
Directions to Sombra and St. Clair River: Find Hwy 40 which runs N/S
between Sarnia and Wallaceburg. Turn west on Lambton Rd. 2 (Bentpath Line)
and take to
Sombra on the river. Sombra Bay is right in front of you. Fawn Island is
just to the south of the village. The St. Clair Parkway (Rd. 33) follows
the river along its length.
