Hi all, Seems like I've hit the jackpot on Great Horned Owls lately. I visited the new house of a friend of mine living on Brant School Road, just outside of Brantford. She bragged of having 2 pairs of Red Bellied Woodpeckers visiting her feeder. She was right. She also had a pair of Great Horned Owls, which I scared out of their roost while walking through the nearby woods.
The owls are apparently calling most nights. You can hear them from a nearby school. (Onondaga-Brant PS, also on Brant School road). The caretaker of the School found a dead Screech Owl about three weeks ago....it committed suicide by one of the school's windows. To get to Onondaga-Brant School....to hear the owls....take the 403 west from Hamilton, exit on Garden Ave., go left on Garden Ave. Turn left on Hwy. 53/Hwy. 2 (2nd set of lights...major intersection). Brant School Road is approx. 1km from the intersection...on the right.....The school is on the right....approx. 400m off of Hwy 53/2. If you don't hear the owls....try again, a little further down the road. Greg Salter Caledonia [EMAIL PROTECTED] "greg salter" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
