Hi, all,
        I am hoping someone can confirm this possible sighting.  On the 5 pm
ferry from Amherst Island we observed a white gull, first flying away from
the ferry then turning and flying back past the ferry, and landing on the
ice.  Too far away from us after it landed, we only saw it in flight.  My
friend saw it first as a white gull, and thought there was a narrow black
band on the tail.  It did not have black wing tips.  I am very sure of the
legs - black, but did not have time to check for any colour or shadowing on
the head.  My one concern about it, was its size - it seemed larger than
what I expected for an Ivory Gull.

Directions:  Amherst Island is reached by ferry from Millhaven, off Highway
33, west of Kingston.
