A mature Cooper's Hawk was seen between 4:30 - 5:00pm today at the Ojibway Visitor's Centre. We flushed it near the main parking area and it took up a post near the bird feeding station. We were then able to go inside the centre where there is a large bay window allowing good viewing of the feeding area. The hawk flew into a large tree giving us an exceptional front view. The rounded tail of this hawk stood out nicely against the gray backdrop of tree limbs allowing us to accurately separate this bird from what we originally thought was a sharp shinned when first sighted.

The feeding station was notably absent of typical winter feeders due to the hawk's presence.

The Ojibway Visitor's Center is located at 5200 Matchette Road, Windsor, Ontario. You can find more about Ojibway at the link http://www.city.windsor.on.ca/ojibway/index.htm
