Subject: Re: [Bioc-devel] flowDensity 1.35.0 in 3.18 still imports archived
rgeos

Thanks Roger for the reminder. FWIW an issue has been opened on GitHub for
flowDensity (see
https://github.com/mehrnoushmalek/flowDensity/issues/10<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fmehrnoushmalek%2FflowDensity%2Fissues%2F10&data=05%7C01%7CRoger.Bivand%40nhh.no%7Cabfb15b780f74001c23e08dbd6493875%7C33a15b2f849941998d56f20b5aa91af2%7C0%7C0%7C638339382214033003%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=5VTVX02oCImq8qLOtcKttjUGUBhTMsPIx1o4ERVc48Y%3D&reserved=0>),
and it looks like Mehrnoush was able to make an rgeos-free version of the
package. Hopefully he can push it to the Bioconductor git server at
git.bioconductor.org soon.

Cheers,

H.

As far as I can tell, only flowDensity has not updated to the archiving of

and directly to package maintainers in good time (June 2023). Please ensure
that rgeos, rgdal, and maptools are removed from Bioconductor check servers for
>= 3.18 as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, flowDensity has strong reverse dependencies, leading to further
problems upgrading to 3.18 on platforms without the archived packages on the
library path.

The maintainer email bounces, but mehrmalek at gmail.com may be an alternative.
