University requirements have more to do with personal bias and politics 
than the real world, sad to say.  Fighting this by proving that they're 
wrong is not likely to get you anywhere, you'll just piss them off.  Find 
some other way to get in or go somewhere else.

Of course, if fighting *does* stand a chance, you might ask them whether 
the opinion of a Senior Lecturer in the School of Computer Science and 
Engineering, Monash University, Australia, would be considered relevant:
