Began at 8 pm ... with FurCon looming

20   people attended

we established a Salon Futura jar

Secretary’s report:  the minutes from meeting 1065 were accepted as 'the
minutes of 57 known communists' &  the minutes from meeting 1066 were
accepted as 'Dinsdale?'

the Treasurer reported that at meeting 1065 we took in $18.73 in the regular
jar & $7.03 in the Salon Futura jar

the Vice President could not be with us because he couldn't find his
invisible car

The President had nothing fannish to report

REPOSTED REMINDER:   our Hugo nomination discussions be held on Jan 24, 31 &
on February 7 – and we ask that BASFAns show restraint in not bringing in
auction items on those nights

Announcements:
Josh announced that FurCon is this weekend at the Fairmont & he is doing Con
Suite on the 20th floor & hosting parties on Friday & Saturday

Lida announced that Corflu is at the Domain hotel in the 2nd week of
February

[evil] Kevin announced that he is looking for a 'Billy the big-mouthed bass'
to dissect

Dave C announced that this Saturday, 8pm is 'celebrity biography' = readings
from autobiographies in SF

Reviews
I reviewed 'Tron Legacy' as having spectacular visuals & a 'meh' plot & (
also reviewed the crab cakes as nom-worthy

Adrienne reviewed 'The King's Speech' as the special effects were
spectacular, everyone did fine performances, the vintage fashions were great
& exceptional filming – very enjoyable – worth full price;  Ken follow-on'd
that the BBC's new 'Upstairs/Downstairs' is set during that period & is
very, very good;  Dave C follow-on'd that he also saw it  & enjoyed it,
worth full price;  Trey follow-on'd that he agreed that it was full of great
performances

Dave C reviewed 'Inventing the Victorians' by Matthew Sweet [nonfic] as a
kinky book, worth full price

Then we did auctions – books and coffee stuff for $0.50,  an espresso pot
for $0.25;  magazines for Chris for $0.25;   books for $0.50, $0.25, $2.00;
brewing pots for $1.00;  & cookies $3.00, $2.50, $2.00, $2.00, $3.50, $8.00,
$3.00


We adjourned at = 8:54 pm

The rumor of the week was: 'FurCon – it's dogs and cats living together –
total anarchy!'
